Use one of the procedures in the following section to locate and remove a media jam.
Never touch areas labelled “Hot Surface” or labelled areas around the fuser; this could
cause an electrical shock or burn.
If media wraps around the heat roller or you see smoke coming from the printer,
immediately turn off the printer and disconnect the power source. Then, contact XANTÉ
or your XANTÉ vendor. Do not try to remove media from around the heat roller.
Clearing Media Jams
This section describes removing media jams from specific locations.
Clearing a Cassette Area Jam
Remove media jams slowly and carefully to prevent tearing the paper. Media scraps in
the printer can become a fire hazard.
This basic procedure works for all cassettes (standard, multipurpose, or optional).

Remove the standard or multipurpose cassette by lifting it gently and pulling
straight out (fig. 8.3).
