Black dots or stains appear on the printed image.
• Media may not meet printer requirements in chapter 6. If
necessary, replace the media (see “Standard Cassette” or
“Multipurpose Cassette” in chapter 1).
• The toner cartridge may be damaged or need replacing. Replace
the cartridge (see “Removing and Installing the Toner
Cartridge” in chapter 1).
Black lines print on the image.
• The toner cartridge may be damaged or need replacing. Replace
the cartridge (see “Removing and Installing the Toner
Cartridge” in chapter 1).
Recurring stains appear on output.
• The paper path may be dirty. Clean the printer (see “Cleaning
the Printer” in chapter 7).
• The toner cartridge may be damaged or need replacing. Replace
the cartridge (see “Removing and Installing the Toner
Cartridge” in chapter 1).
Hairline marks appear in or around black halftone printing.
• The media may have been unpacked and left out for a long
period of time (especially in a low humidity area) or may be
otherwise damaged. Replace the media, making sure it meets
the requirements in chapter 6 (see “Standard Cassette” or
“Multipurpose Cassette” in chapter 1).
