Installation and Programming Overview
The installation pages in this manual are set up in four sections, to reflect the four installation
configurations. In addition to choosing the correct installation configuration, you must also define your
system correctly using the system console software. The following steps will enable you to decide which
configuration is appropriate for your CCTV site and direct you to the corresponding programming sections.

Your first step is to choose the installation configuration (mode) for your system. Use the following
guidelines:
If you have...

If you have more than one system console, refer to pages 12 and 13 for star and daisy-chain
configurations.
If you will use the VI 400X-DJT Desk-Top Joystick or
400X-JST Joystick Keypad, refer to page 15.
Refer to page 17 to begin programming the system console software, continuing to define your
settings until you reach the chapter titled System Settings. In
Selecting the Mode,
choose the mode
which corresponds to your system as chosen in step 1 above.
Continue in the System Settings chapter, using the following to reference the correct section. You will
only define one system (standalone,
NOVA/AURORA/VCR,
or
AURORA/VCR ONLY), so disregard the other sections under
Defining the Mode.
