19. There should be some play in the spider after the coupling is assembled. Verify that the coupling can be
moved easily, by hand, approximately .020” (.50mm) in each direction shown in the figure below.
CAUTION!
If the spider does not have some play in the directions shown, the pump and motor shafts
may not be properly aligned, or there may not be sufficient axial clearance between the hubs
and the spider. Proceeding without correcting misalignment or axial clearance could cause
damage to the pump!
20. Turn the unit upright, reconnect power, and fill the tank with adhesive. Once the unit has reached
operating temperature and the adhesive has melted, start the pump. Verify that there is no noise from the
pump, and check the unit for vibration. If no abnormal conditions are observed, the unit is ready to be put
back in service.
