2-24 Hardware Overview
Motion Coordinator MC206
Trio Motion Technology
Notes:
The programs on the FlashStick have auto/manual run settings in the same way
as programs in internal flash EPROM do.
In all cases if programs transferred from the FlashStick are set to autorun this
occurs in a similar way
Methods of Use
A machinery builder could use a FlashStick with programs loaded and the EPROM
request bit set to install programs on to a series of machines.
If an application update is sent out on a FlashStick to a machinery customer the
EPROM request bit could be left OFF [ Using
EPROM(1)
]. In this way if the update
does not do what is required the old program will be copied from internal EPROM
when the FlashStick is removed.
Axis Configuration
The MC206 initialises 8 axes in its software: up to four real axes of servo or
stepper are built in, one daughter board axis may optionally be used, an encoder
follower input axis is also built in to every MC206. Any axis of the 8 not used in
hardware can be used as a virtual axis for camming, on-the-fly registration
adjustments, and linking motion.
The MC206 can be a servo or stepper controller by using a “feature enable code”.
All necessary DAC and stepper circuitry is installed and ready for use. The
controller can be supplied with any combination of servo or stepper axes pre-
enabled, and has been designed to allow the user to upgrade at a later date by
entering additional feature enable codes. Up to 4 axes can be enabled on the
MC206.

POWER_UP=0
Programs will be transferred
from the FlashStick to the con-
troller ram on power up.
Programs will be transferred
from the FlashStick to the con-
troller ram on power up. The
programs will then be written to
internal controller EPROM and
the POWER_UP system variable
set to 1.
POWER_UP=1
Programs will be transferred
from the FlashStick to the con-
troller ram on power up.
Programs will be transferred
from the FlashStick to the con-
troller ram on power up. The
programs will then be written to
internal controller EPROM.
