(1) Disconnect throttle position sensor connector.
(2) Turn ignition switch ON.

Check harness and connector between ECU
and throttle position sensor.

Check voltage between terminals VC and E2 of throttle
position sensor connector.

Measure voltage between terminals Vc and E

throttle position sensor connector.

Voltage: 5V

Adjust or replace throttle position sensor.

Replace ECU. *

Go to step [ 4 ].

Check change in voltage between terminals VTA and
E

of ECU connector while slowly opening throttle

valve from closed to open position.

Voltage changes smoothly from 0.1V (when closed)
to about 5V (when open); i.e., does not suddenly
jump up to 5V or down to 0.1V.

Check throttle position sensor.

next circuit inspection shown on matrix chart (See

TR–23

Turn ignition switch LOCK.

Measure resistance between each terminal shown
below:

(1) Connect throttle position sensor connector.
(2) Turn ignition switch ON.

Check voltage between terminals VTA and E2 of ECU connector.

Resistance changes smoothly from 0.3 – 6.3 k

(when closed) to 3.5 – 10.3 k

(when open).
