When the motor is out of the water,
being transported, or in storage, always
remove the negative (-) battery cable to
prevent accidental starting of the
engine. Accidental starting when the
motor is out of the water will cause
water pump failure, overheating and
damage to the engine due to a lack of
cooling water.
DO NOT disconnect the electrical har-
ness when operating the motor. This
model will continue to run and can be
started with the electrical harness dis-
connected. Remove all spark plug con-
nectors from the spark plugs when
servicing the engine or propeller.

viced or overhauled by your dealer.

Wa

h the engine exterior and flu
s
h the
cooling water
s
y
s
tem thoroughly with
fre
s
h water. Let the water drain com-
pletely.
Wipe off any
s
urface water with an oily
rag.

Drain all fuel from the fuel pipe
s
, fuel
pump and carburetor, and clean the
s
e
part
s
. To prevent corro
s
ion of the fuel
tank, fill it up with engine oil-rich ga
s
o-
line.
Keep in mind that if ga
s
oline i
s
kept in
the carburetor for a long time, gum and
varni
s
h will begenerated, cau
s
ing the
float valve to
s
tick.

Remove the
s
park plug
s
and feed genu-
ine engine oil or
s
torage fogging oil
through the
s
park plug hole
s
.
The oil will be fed into the crank ca
s
e
from the air
s
ilencer attached to the car-
buretor
s
. Turn the engine over
s
everal
time
s
while feeding the oil into it and
make
s
ure it i
s
evenly di
s
tributed.

e to the propeller
s
haft.

Change the gear oil in the gear ca
s
e.

Apply grea
s
e to all
s
liding part
s
, joint
s
,
nut
s
, and bolt
s
.

U
s
e a dry cloth to completely wipe off
water and
s
alt from the electrical com-
ponent
s
.

Remove the fuel connector from the
engine.

Stand the outboard motor up vertically
in a dry place.
Be sure to use cloth to remove fuel remain-
ing in the cowl and dispose of it in accor-
dance with local fire prevention and
environment protection regulations.
