Have your dealer check the engine before
the
s ea s on s tart s , or if your prefer, be s ure
to check the following item s your s elf:
1 Check that the s hift and throttle function
properly.
(Be
s ure to turn the propeller s haft when
checking the s hift function or el s e the
s hift linkage may be damaged.)
The following steps must be taken when
first using the engine after pre-season
storage.

Mix engine oil with the fuel in the follow-
ing mixing ratio and fill up the fuel tank
completely with 25 liters (6.6 U.
S . gal.):
Mixing ratio : G asoline 25 : 1 Engine oil
Use unleaded gasoline and genuine Out-
board Motor oil. If this oil is not avail-
able, use another NMMA TC-W3
certified outboard motor oil from
another manufacture.

Purge any air from the oil filter assembly.

Warm up the engine for 3 minutes with
the remote control lever in “NEUTRAL”
position.

Run the engine for 5 minutes at the
slowest speed.

Run the engine for 10 minutes at the half
speed.
In steps 2 and 3 above, the oil used for
winter storage inside the engine will be
cleaned out, and optimum performance
will be assured.

When the full volume, 25 liters (6.6 U. S .
gal.), of gasoline mixed with oil has been
used, fill up the tank with pure gasoline
only. (For the auto-mixing types)
