Pull the choke knob fully.
Notes

Operation of the choke knob i s not
required if the engine i s warm.

If engine doe s not s tart with 4 or 5 time s
s tarting operation, pu s h the knob back
and re s tart.

MF type
4 Pull the s tarter rope s lowly until re s i s -
tance i s met.
Give it a s harp tug to s tart the engine.
5 Turn the handle grip to it s original po s i-
tion gradually once the engine ha s
s tarted.

Pu s h back the choke knob s lowly.
7 Carefully turn the throttle grip to
“SLOW
” .
Do not operate the engine with gear case
out of water.
S evere personal injury, or engine damage
will result.

EF type
4 In s ert the main s witch key.

Turn the main s witch key to START
po s ition.

The key return s to the original po s ition,
automatically.
7 When s tarting the engine, pu s h the
choke knob back.

Carefully turn the throttle grip to
“SLOW
” .
Do not keep turning starter motor for over
5 seconds, or the battery may be con-
sumed, potentially making the engine start-
i n g i m p o s s i b l e a n d / o r d a m a g i n g t h e
starter.
If cranking over 5 seconds fails to start
engine, return main switch to “ON”, and
crank engine again after 10 seconds or
more.
