mistakes.

computer program serial settings, and
DSPs settings.

Match settings between DSP and
computer program. For example, if
computer is set for 8 data bits and no
parity, set theDSP for
AWLEN

and
PARITY

, then issue a
RESTART
to cause these changes to take effect.
AMTOR and PACTOR Problems
Problem Symptom
Cause Test/Solution
Unable to receive. No characters
appear on the screen.
PACTOR—You’re able to issue
commands and receive confirmation
from the DSP, but no on-air data is
displayed.
AMTOR
Station you’re tuned to isn’t sending
in the mode you are set to receive.
Mark/Space relationship
mismatched between DSP and signal
being received.
Choose the correct receiving mode
for the transmission in progress.
Toggle
RXREV
to opposite status,
e.g.,
RXREV
T
, or use SIAM to
assist in identifying proper setting of
RXREV
.
Difficulty tuning in stations.
When you try to tune stations it
appears that you can only get one of
the tones to track on the tuning
display at a time.
You aren’t able to get a definite
spread on the tuning bar when
tuning this station.
WIDESHIFT
is turned off while
you’re trying to receive a station
sending with a wide shift.
Station may not be a teletype
station—it may be transmitting fax.
Turn
WIDESHIFT
ON
.
Try another station.
