Poor copy (numerous errors during
reception.)
Garbled text—lots of “E”s and “T”s. DSP not synchronized or locked at
wrong speed.
Poor keying timing.
Audio level not set correctly.
Receiver AGC set to “fast” or poor
S/N ratio.
Unlock by entering MO in the
Command mode.
Other operator is using manual or
“bug”-sent Morse; DSP can only
decode effectively if sender is using
keyer or computer-generated code.
Adjust volume level to DSP so
tuning indicator’s lights deflect to the
right only when tone is present. DSP
needs a minimum of 200 mV of
audio voltage to decode Morse; 400
mV
p-p
is best.
Set radio’s AGC control to “slow” or
adjust RF gain cotnrol so that
background noise level doesn’t
increase to same level as desired
signal between elements, characters,
or words.
ASCII/Baudot Problems
