Chapter 10 Morse Operation
With
WORDOUT OFF
, each character you type is sent to the radio just as you typed it, without any delay. Also,
the backspace character is transmitted in Baudot, ASCII, AMTOR and PACTOR modes. With WORDOUT ON ,
pressing the backspace key cancels out the preceding character and neither are transmitted.
In Baudot and AMTOR, the backspace character is transmitted as a “?” since there’s no backspace in those modes.
In ASCII the backspace character is transmitted, but the destination station must be able to pass it. AEA products
should have
MFILTER
set to zero to allow backspaces to print.
Xmit
Immediate Command
Mode: Baudot/ASCII/Morse Host: XM
XMIT
keys your radio’s PTT line and prepares the radio to receive outbound data and Morse characters from the
DSP. This command can only be used while in the Command mode.
XMIT switches your DSP to either the Converse mode or the Transparent mode, depending on the setting of
CONMODE
. Typing the
CWID
or the
RECEIVE
character will (
RETURN
) you to receive. Typing
RCVE
from
the Command mode will also ( RETURN ) to receive.
