OPERATOR'S CHECKS
AND ADJUSTMENTS
INTRODUCTION
This part contains procedures that may be used to verify
the operation and basic accuracy o f your instrument before
making measurements. Adjustment procedures provided
enable the user to optimize the display fo r viewing as well
as compensate several of the oscilloscope control functions
fo r variations in ambient operating temperature. Adjust
ments beyond the scope of "Operator's Checks and Adjust
ments" are in the "Adjustm ent Procedures," Section 5 of
this manual.
Before proceeding with these instructions, refer to
"Preparation for Use" in this section fo r first-time start-up
considerations.
Verify that the POWER switch is OFF (push button
is out), then plug the power cord into the power outlet.

3. Adjust the INTENSITY and READOUT INTENSITY
controls for desired display and readout brightness and best
trace definition.
4. Adjust the Vertical and Horizontal POSITION
controls to position the trace w ithin the graticule area.
INITIAL SETUP
1. Press in the POWER switch button (ON) and allow
the instrument to warm up (20 minutes is recommended
for maximum accuracy).
TRACE ROTATION ADJUSTMENT
1. Preset instrument controls and obtain a baseline trace
as described in "In itia l Setup."
2. Set instrument controls to obtain a baseline trace:

2. Use the Channel 1 POSITION control to move the
baseline trace to the center horizontal graticule line.
NOTE
Normaiiy, the resulting trace w ill be paraiiei to the
center horizontal graticule tine, and the Trace Rota
tion adjustment should n o t be required.
3. if the trace is not paraiiei to the center horizontal
graticule line, use a small-bladed screwdriver to adjust the
TRACE ROTATION control (see Figure 2-2) and align the
trace w ith the center horizontal graticule line.
