UPS system overview
When the power supply of the UPS system fails or is switched off, the UPS system continues
to provide the supply voltage to the SIMOTION P for several minutes. The user can
configure the system so that Windows XP, and thus also the SIMOTION kernel, can be
closed down in an orderly fashion.
The required values (accumulator switching threshold, end-of-charge voltage, backup
times etc.) are set using DIP switches on the SITOP DC UPS module. Further informationen
on this can be found in the Operating Instructions for your DC-UPS module.
Note
If the SIMOTION P is usually switched off before Windows is correctly shut down, the use of
a UPS system is strongly advised.
Otherwise, there is a risk of the Windows installation sustaining damage, and it may no
longer be possible to execute SIMOTION P.
