Adjustment D: For White Undercoat Jobs Printed on Smooth Paper – K and
White swapped in 1-Pass (DC / Low speed)
D-1. Select the paper in use from generic settings.

From the list of “1Pass_Special Toner First_Wt. 1-8” select the weight in use. If
the paper already exists in the Paper Library, use that entry.
D-2. Set the paper transfer current (belt-to-paper PTR DC bias) in the Advanced Settings
below according to the print mode; simplex or duplex, BW or FC or FCS or S, as
follows:
1) First, set the value to “-2” and check the print quality. If acceptable, stop the
procedure. If unacceptable, continue.
2) Set the value to “-5” and check the print quality. Stop or continue depending on
the results.
3) Set the value to “+2” and check the print quality. Stop or continue depending on
the results.
4) Set the value to “+5” and check the print quality. If results are still
unsatisfactory, apply the setting that produced the best results and continue the
procedure.

Note the following possible side effects when the paper transfer current is increased:

White spots (especially in low temperature / low humidity environment)

If printed in FC mode, the density of black appears low (especially in high
temperature / high humidity environment).
