Cleaning and Maintenance
5.A. General Instrument Care
If a well is overfilled, immediately clean up any spills.
Tap the
Door
button to automatically open and close the instrument door.
To gain access to the inside of the instrument, manually open the front access door.
5.B. General Cleaning
Turn off the GloMax
®
Discover System and disconnect the AC Power Adapter whenever the interior of the
instrument is open for cleaning and maintenance.
Residue accumulated from various reagents may inhibit proper movement of the optical head cross talk mask.
Immediately clean up any spills. We recommend thoroughly cleaning the interior of the instrument every 30 days
as follows:
Remove the Aperture from the Aperture Plate (Section 3.E, Figure 47). Clean the Microplate Sample Tray (Figure 7)
and Aperture Plate (Figure 48) using a Kimwipes
®
tissue dampened with 70% ethanol. Do not allow excess solution
to run off onto other electrical components, because this may cause damage to the instrument and its electronics. Do
not use solvents or abrasive cleaners.
Use a cloth dampened with deionized water to periodically wipe clean the exterior of the GloMax
®
Discover
Instrument.
Do not
use solvents or abrasive cleaners.
Warning:
If a fluid spill on the detector is suspected, immediately contact Promega Technical Services for
cleaning instructions.
5.C. Tablet PC Care
Do not use a sharp object, such as a pen, pencil, or marker to make contact with the touch screen. Sharp objects
may damage or leave a permanent mark on the LCD screen. Do not spill liquid on the screen.
To clean the Tablet PC, turn off the power. The touchscreen has been coated to make it easier to clean. You don’t
need to rub hard to remove fingerprints or oily spots. To avoid scratches, use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe
the screen. You can dampen the cloth with water or an eyeglass cleaner, but don’t apply liquids directly to the
Tablet PC. Don’t use window cleaner or other chemical cleaners on the Tablet PC.
5.D. Cleaning the Injectors
We recommend thoroughly cleaning the injectors every 30 days.
1.
Use a prepared solution of 70% ethanol to flush the injector(s) three times.
2.
Place the container of 70% ethanol into the bottle holder. The stainless steel inlet tube should be inserted so
that it reaches the bottom of the bottle.
3.
Place an empty Waste Collection Tray on the Microplate Sample Tray.
