Flashing/Updating Firmware
As new features are added to the PCC-IV blockware, faceplate displays, Communications interfaces, PC4_Draw
interface, etc… itmay be necessary to use a Micro SD card to flash the controller with new firmware. After
obtaining an SD card with the new firmware image pre-loaded on it from your distributor, service provider, or
Preferred Utilities, follow the directions below.
WARNING

Processes. VERIFY THAT THE PROCESS BEING CONTROLLED HAS BEEN SAFELY
SECURED, ISOLATED, OR BYPASSED (AS REQUIRED BY THE SITE CONDITIONS)
BEFORE REMOVING POWER FROM THE PCC-IV CONTROLLER. FAILURE TO DO SO
CAN RESULT IN EQUIPMENT DAMAGE, INJURY, OR DEATH.
1. Gain access to the PCC-IV CPU board that needs the firmware flashed.
2. If possible, Read the Blockware from the PCC-IV into PC4_Draw per Section 5 of the PCC-IV Technical
Manual.
3. Remove power by unplugging the 24 Vdc power supply plug(s).
4. Wait approximately 10-15 seconds for all capacitors to discharge and for all LED’s to turn off.
5. On the CPU board, set the startup select switch (SW1) to 11110 (A=ON, B=ON, C=ON, D=ON, E=OFF).
6. Insert SD card into the SD card slot (J10), on the PCC-IV, by sliding it in until it clicks.
