Section 5 – Configuring Blockware
Connectors
At the bottom of the list of Function Blocks is a Tab which allows the programmer to
select different connections.
•
Off-page
Connectors allow the programmer to softwire a block output (the
source) on one page to a Block Input (the destination) on a different page.
Both Off-page’s must have the same name. Off-page connectors can also be
used on the same page to avoid a confusing jumble of crisscrossing softwires.
A source Off-page can connect to as many destination Off-page’s as desired.
The source and destination must be the same signal type:
analog-to-analog or discrete-to-discrete.
•
Tags
can be connected to an analog, or discrete, Output, Input, or Parameter.
A Tag makes a value available on the faceplate, and the Comm ports for
display or R/W changes. A Tag can also be the “source” for a “destination”
Off-page.
Tags have optional fields for R/W permission, scaling, and number formatting
for ease of Tag Export and then import into a Preferred Touchscreen (aka,
OIT).
•
Alarm Tags
can only be linked to Discrete Outputs and include extra fields
for easy interface to the Preferred touchscreen/OIT alarm logging system.
•
Comments
are simply text boxes that the programmer can use to clarify
what is going on, add information about block parameters, etc.
•
Title Block
is editable and holds information common to all pages in the
blockware. Clicking on the title block will allow editing and will display a
revision history comments section. Each page has a unique Page
Description section.
•
Multi-Tag
is a special tag that can only be linked to:
F(x) parameters X0 or Y0
F(t) parameters T1 or Y0
The designer selects the first Modbus register, and PC4_Draw automatically
assigns the next 10 registers to the following X’s, Y’s, or T’s.
Multi-Tags can not be used as a “source” for a “destination” Off-Page
connector.
Search and Replace
The Find button on the tool bar is a powerfull tool to Search for all occurances of a Block, Tag,
Off-Page, comment text, etc on any/all pages of the Blockware.
By right clicking on any Tag or Off-Page, you can search for, and jump to, all “destination”
and/or “source” usages.
Search and Replace operations can also be done. For example, all Tag Names that contain
“Blr 1” can be replaced with “Blr 2”.
