Section 2 - Installation
Connecting and Powering the Front Panel
Connect the front panel to the CPU board via a USB-A to micro-USB-B cable. Only use the top USB port (farther
away from the circuit board) on the CPU board to connect the front panel to the CPU board. For most installations,
the front panel will receive the power required for operation via the CPU board’s front panel USB Port.
If the USB cable connecting the CPU to the front panel is incapable of supplying the required current, a separate
24 VDC power supply connection will be required to power the front panel. This may be possible if the USB cable
is longer than 3.5 meters (~11.3 ft) (i.e. a DCS-IV with remote front panel). Like the CPU board, the front panel has
redundant power supply ports. If a separate power supply connection is necessary, move the jumper J9, on the
back of the front panel, from pins 2-3, to pins 1-2. If, in the future, a separate power supply is no longer necessary,
move the jumper J9, on the back of the front panel, from pins 1-2, back to pins 2-3. The power supply connection
may come from the same power supply used for the PCC-IV.
