Component Serviceability

The replaceable components in your server are designated as either a customer-replaceable unit

(CRU) or a field-replaceable unit (FRU). A part designated as a FRU must be replaced by an

Oracle-qualified service technician. A part designated as a CRU can be replaced by a person

who is not an Oracle-qualified service technician.

If the component can be serviced while the server is powered on, it is called a hot-service

component. If the server has to be powered off before the component can be serviced, it is

called a cold-service component.
