5.4.2 Oscillator stop mode
You can specify the stop (OFF) timing of oscillator output by selecting from
[QUICK]
and
[0° SYNC]
. The
setting is done using
【
OSC
】

[STOP MODE]
.
[QUICK]
: The output is turned off immediately, regardless of the signal phase.
[0° SYNC]
: The oscillator output is not turned off until it reaches 0° phase.

The "0° SYNC"
setting is used for measuring electrochemical impedance (EIS) and other such
measurements. The oscillator always starts at 0° phase when turned on, so the "0° SYNC
"
setting means
that the average voltage over the time from on to off (DC component) is zero and the total amount of
electricity injected to the DUT is the same after the measurement as before the measurement.
Please note that it may take about one cycle before the output actually ceases, depending on the timing of
turning the output off. (For 10 µHz, it will take 10

28 hours to turn off in the worst case.)
Please also note that the actual oscillation stop phase may deviate from 0° if the oscillation frequency
exceeds about 100 kHz.
When the oscillator stop mode is set to "0° SYNC
"
, the SLOW setting of the oscillator on/off mode
is ignored. ("0° SYNC
"
setting of the oscillator stop mode takes priority.) The oscillator is turned off as
soon as the 0° phase timing is detected.
