CHAPTER 17: The Android Market

Pandora
Pandora is an Internet radio service that
lets you create custom “radio stations”
based around a song or artist. The playlist
won’t consist entirely of songs from that
act, but it will share common style features
as analyzed by the Music Genome Project.
You can refine the choices by clicking a
Like
or
Dislike
button. It’s a great way to
find new music you didn’t realize you liked;
it’s also a great way to listen to music on
your phone without having to download it.
Pandora offers free (ad-sponsored)
listening for 40 hours per month. You can
upgrade to a premium account for $36 a
year; the premium service features
unlimited listening and no ads. The
Android app is free either way, but it’s
subject to the same limits as your user
account.
