A
PC
running
Windows
2000
or
XP
Pro
operating
system.
The
PC
should
have
up
to
three
spare
USB
ports:
two
for
the
amplifier
and
one
if
the
optional
SoftPanel
is
used.
7.
External
oscilloscope.
Installing
Hardware
1.
Connect
the
appropriate
end
of
the
USB
cable
to
the
CONTROL
USB
connector
on
the
Axoclamp
900A
rear
panel,
and
the
other
end
to
a
free
USB
port
on
your
PC.
This
is
the
main
connection
between
the
amplifier
and
the
computer.
2.
Connect
a
second
USB
cable
between
the
SCOPE
USB
connector
on
the
Axoclamp
900A
rear
panel
and
another
free
USB
port
on
your
PC.
This
connection
delivers
the
monitor
signal
from
the
amplifier
to
the
computer
for
discontinuous
mode
operation.
3.
Connect
the
HS
‐
9A
headstage(s)
to
the
CHANNEL
1
HEADSTAGE
and
CHANNEL
2
HEADSTAGE
rear
panel
connectors.
The
amplifier
CAN
be
left
on
when
changing
headstages.
HOWEVER,
DO
NOT
DISCONNECT
HEADSTAGES
WHILE
THE
SOFTWARE
IS
STARTING
UP.
4.
Connect
the
power
cable,
and
turn
on
the
Axoclamp
900A.
The
front
panel
POWER
light
should
illuminate
and
the
status
light
should
eventually
go
out.
The
Windows
operating
system
automatically
recognizes
the
new
USB
hardware
as
a
Human
Interface
Device
(HID).
5.
If
you
are
using
the
optional
SoftPanel
device,
connect
it
to
a
different
computer
USB
port
using
the
USB
cable
supplied
with
the
SoftPanel.

1.
Run
the
Axoclamp
900A
Commander
installer
from
the
enclosed
CD,
or
from
the
installation
file
downloaded
from
the
Molecular
Devices
