Mastering Program
This chapter describes the procedure for the comparative thickness measurement with a
master target.
Objectives:
-
Define a measured value as master value, e.g. 10 mm
-
Deviations from this measured value are output in the positive and negative direction
(e.g. 10.2 mm, 9.8 mm or -1.2 mm)
-
Control using digital input
The
Mastering
function is primarily used for the comparison of mounting tolerances
for the thickness measurement with two sensors. The master value is specified as the
setpoint (master) for the thickness determination.
i
The mastering requires a target in the measuring range of the sensors.
The mastering is only possible within the measuring range of the sensors.
The mastering always takes place before the start of a new batch.
The mastering calculation block is practically used at the end of a calculation chain.
The mastering function is not volatile, i.e. the mastered condition applies after
switching on the controller, if the master value is saved, see
Fig. 34
.

Define the calculation block and the master value, e.g. 10.0 mm for the thickness
measurement of a master part of 10.0 mm. Menu Calculation > Block n > Param-
eter > Master Value.
The output is maintained at the set master value while the external master pulse is active
(digital input
Sync/Trig
or EtherCAT terminal). Afterwards, the output continues from
this value and can also accept negative values.
The master value in the factory settings is 0.00 mm.
Define the digital input at the controller which you would like to use as control input
for the mastering. Menu Calculation > Block n > Data Sources > Digital Source 2 >
Digital Input, see
Fig. 34
.
i
If you select
Digi In
as mode in the settings for the digital input, you can option-
ally start/stop the master measuring with the digital inputs
Zero
and/or
Sync/
Trig.
Otherwise, only the digital input
Zero
is available.
Define the activity of the binary inputs
Zero
or
Sync/Trig
as LOW or HIGH.
