Operation
5.1
Getting Ready for Operation
The Universal Controller CSP2008 must be installed in accordance with the installa-
tion instructions, see Chap.
4.1
and connected to an automation unit, e.g. PLC, and the
power supply in compliance with the connection instructions, see Chap.
4.3
.
After switching on the operating voltage, the Universal Controller performs an initializa-
tion sequence and goes into the measurement operating mode afterwards. The display
shows the measured values of the connected sensors in accordance with the selected
setting.
The laser operation on optical sensors is only indicated at the sensor by an LED. If no
measured values are shown on the display, check whether the sensors are switched on
and whether a target is in the measuring range of the sensor.
5.2
Operation Using Ethernet
Dynamic web pages are generated in the controller which contain the current settings of
the controller and the peripherals. The operation is only possible while there is an Ether-
net connection to the Universal Controller.
5.2.1 Requirements
You need a web browser on a PC with a network connection. Decide about connecting
the CSP2008 to a network or directly to a PC.
The CSP2008 is delivered as standard with a fixed IP address. If you do not require a
static IP address, you can enable DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) as auto-
matic IP address allocation. The controller will be assigned an IP address by the DHCP
server, see Chap.
5.2.2
.
If you have set your browser so that it accesses internet through a proxy server, please
add the IP address of the controller to the IP addresses that should not be routed
through the proxy server in the settings of the browser. You will find the MAC address of
the measurement device on the label of the controller and on the acceptance protocol.
Parameter
Description
Address type
Static IP address (standard) or dynamic IP address (DHCP, Standard)
IP address
Static IP address of the controller (only active if no DHCP is selected).
Gateway
Gateway to the other subnets
Subnet mask
Subnet mask of the IP subnet
Media type
Automatic detection (standard) 100 Mbit/s half duplex,
100 Mbit/s full duplex
Fig. 14 Basic settings Ethernet Universal controller
You can also select the media type in this menu. “automatic detection” is standard here.
If there are problems with this, you can specifically set the controller to “100 Mbit/s half
duplex” or “100 Mbit/s full duplex”.
“Javascript” must be activated and updated in the browser for the graphical display of the
measurement and calculation results.
You need a HTML5 browser. Micro-Epsilon recommends to use the Google Chrome,
version 49.0.
