Engine General Information and Diagnosis: Bi-Fuel LPG model 1A-8

Fail safe control

When LPG control module fails to control, operating
mode is switched to “Petrol MODE” automatically and
LPG warning light blinks.

LPG Pressure-and-Temperature Sensor

LPG pressure-and-temperature sensor detects LPG fuel
pressure and LPG temperature in LPG fuel delivery pipe.

Shut Off Valve of LPG Pressure Regulator

Shut off valve installed in LPG pressure regulator is
opened or closed by LPG control module to supply or
shut off LPG fuel to LPG fuel delivery pipe. For details,
refer to “LPG Pressure Regulator Description”: LPG in
Section 1G.

Shut Off Valve of LPG tank Valve

Shut off valve installed in LPG tank valve is opened or
closed by LPG control module to supply or shut off LPG
fuel to LPG fuel lines. For details, refer to “LPG Tank
Description”: LPG in Section 1G.

Fuel Select Switch

Fuel select switch, which is installed on instrument
panel, outputs on / off signal to LPG control module to
select operating mode among three modes. Selected
operating mode and remaining LPG are indicated by the
indicator built-in this switch. For details, refer to “Selector
Switch Description (Bi-Fuel LPG Model)”: in Section 9C.

Electronic Control System Description

The electronic control system consists of various
sensors, switches, ECUs which detect the state of
engine and driving conditions, ECM and LPG control

module which controls various electric control devices
according to the signals from various sensors and
various electric control devices.
Electronic control system performs the following
controls:

• Fuel pump control
• Radiator cooling fan control
• Evaporative emission control
• HO2S heater control
• A/C control
• Immobilizer control
• Generator control
• Controller (computer) communication

LPG Control Module

• Controller (computer) communication
Especially, ECM, LPG control module and combination
meter intercommunicate by means of CAN
communication.
