5) Put marks (2) matching with intake and exhaust
camshaft timing sprocket marks (1) on timing chain.
6) With hexagonal section of exhaust camshaft held
stationary with spanner or adjustable wrench, loosen
exhaust camshaft timing sprocket bolt and remove
camshaft timing sprocket (1).
CAUTION
!
Do not turn camshaft after removing exhaust
cam timing sprocket.
7) Loosen intake and exhaust camshaft housing bolts
in numerical order as indicated in figure, and remove
intake camshaft and exhaust camshaft.
8) Remove tappet, if necessary.
Installation
1) Apply engine oil to hatching part on tappet as shown,
and then install tappet (1) to cylinder head.
2) Apply engine oil to sliding part of camshaft, and set
camshaft to cylinder head as follows.
a) Align match mark (1) on intake camshaft
sprocket with painted link (2) of timing chain.
b) Direct dowel pin (3) of exhaust camshaft upward.
3) Install camshaft housings (1) to specified places
indicated by character (2), number (3) and arrow
direction (4) on each camshaft housing.
4) After applying engine oil to camshaft housing bolts,
tighten camshaft housing bolts temporarily first.
Then tighten camshaft housing bolts by the
numerical order in figure.
Tighten camshaft housing bolts according to the
following procedure.
a) Tighten camshaft housing bolts to 5.0 N

m (0.51
kgf-m, 4.0 lbf-ft) in numerical order (“1” – “16”)
evenly and gradually.
b) In the same manner as Step a), retighten them to
8.0 N

m (0.82 kgf-m, 6.0 lbf-ft).
c) In the same manner as Step a), retighten them to
11 N
⋅
m (1.1 kgf-m, 8.5 lbf-ft).
