Repair Instructions
Rear Coil Spring, Bump Stopper and Spring
Upper Seat Removal and Installation

CAUTION
!
• Be careful not to let trailing arm down too
much. It may cause damage to rear brake
flexible hose, rear wheel speed sensor lead
wire (ABS model) and parking brake cable.
• Rear shock absorber upper bolt and lower
nut are precoated with friction stabilizer.
To avoid their loosening, replace with new
ones whenever reinstalling.
Removal
1) Hoist vehicle and remove rear wheel.
2) Support rear axle at trailing arm ends by using floor
jacks (1) to prevent it from lowering.
NOTE
Before jack working, place shop cloth on top
of the jack to protect paint surface of the
lifted portion from damaging.
3) Detach rear shock absorbers (1) both sides.

4) Lower rear axle gradually as far down as where coil
spring (2) can be removed.
5) Remove rear coil spring.
6) Remove bump stopper (2) and spring upper seat (1)
from vehicle body.
Installation
1) Install spring upper seat (1) to vehicle body.
2) Install bump stopper (2).
3) Install coil spring (3) as shown in figure.
NOTE
When installing the coil spring, put the paint
mark (4 & 5) underside, facing rear and the
lower open end to “a” as illustrated. Apply
this procedure to both sides.
