1D-4 Engine Mechanical:
Removal
1) Remove cylinder head cover.
)
2) Turn crankshaft clockwise with wrench, and position
piston No.1 at TDC according to the following
procedure.
a) Align both intake and exhaust camshaft timing
sprocket marks (1) with top face of cylinder head
(2) respectively.
b) Confirm notch (1) on crankshaft pulley with “0”
indication (2) on timing chain cover.
3) Remove timing chain cover plug (1) and gasket (2).
4) Fix timing chain tensioner as follows.
CAUTION
!
• Use the following bolt for timing chain
tensioner fixing bolt.
• Do not use wrench when tightening timing
chain tensioner fixing bolt to avoid
damage of timing chain tensioner.
a) Tighten timing chain tensioner fixing bolt (2) by
hand to fix timing chain tensioner (1).
b) While turning crankshaft 20° (“a”)
counterclockwise, tighten timing chain tensioner
fixing bolt (2) by hand again.
c) While turning crankshaft 20° (“a”) clockwise this
time, tighten timing chain tensioner fixing bolt (2)
by hand again.
