Remove the system board
Use this information to remove the system board.
Ground package before opening”
Attention:
Disconnect all power cords for this task.
Before removing the system board:
1. Remove the top cover. See “Remove the top cover” on page 56.
2. Record where the cables are connected to the system board; then, disconnect them.
Attention:
Disengage all latches, cable clips, release tabs, or locks on cable connectors beforehand.
Failing to release them before removing the cables will damage the cable connectors on the system
board. Any damage to the cable connectors may require replacing the system board.
3. Remove any of the following components that are installed on the system board and put them in a safe,
static-protective place. See the related topics in this chapter.
• Air baffle
• System fans
• Processor and heat sink module (PHM)
Note:
Do not disassemble the PHM.
• Riser assembly
• DIMMs
• LOM adapter
• TCM/TPM (for Chinese Mainland only)
• M.2 module
• PCIe adapter
• CMOS battery
4. Pull out the power supplies a little bit. Ensure that they are disconnected from the system board.
