• Do not drop the storage device or subject it to physical shocks. Put the storage device on a material, such
as soft cloth, that absorbs any physical shocks.
• Do not apply pressure to the cover of the storage device.
• Do not touch the connector.
• Before removing the storage device, make a backup copy of all the information on it, and then turn
off the computer.
• Never remove the storage device while the computer is operating, in sleep mode, or in hibernation mode.
To replace the hard disk drive, do the following:
1. Turn off the computer; then disconnect the ac power adapter and all cables from the computer. Wait
three to five minutes to let the computer cool.
2. Close the computer display and turn the computer over. Then remove the removable battery. See
“Replacing the removable battery ” on page 117.
3. Remove the bottom cover. See “Replacing the bottom cover” on page 120.
4. Disconnect the connector from the system board

5. Detach the hard disk drive cable from the hard disk drive.
