6.2.2 V-insert

The V-insert (
→
"Fig. 73- 4 ") is mounted in the hole
provided in the lower movable jaw of the standard
specimen clamp. This makes it possible to clamp
round specimens in the standard specimen
clamp.
• Turn the knurled screw ( → "Fig. 73- 1 ")
counterclockwise to move the movable jaw
( → "Fig. 73- 2 ") downward.
• Insert the pin ( → "Fig. 73- 5 ") of the V-insert
( → "Fig. 73- 4 ") in the hole ( → "Fig. 73- 3 ") of the
lower jaw ( → "Fig. 73- 2 ") .
• Mount the specimen as required.
• Turn the knurled screw ( → "Fig. 73- 1 ")
clockwise to move the movable jaw with
the V-insert upward against the fixed jaw to
securely clamp the sample.
6.2.3 Foil clamp type 1
The foil clamp type 1 is appropriate both for clamping very small and thin foil pieces and flat, angular
specimens. It is mounted in the standard specimen clamp.

• Move the movable jaw ( → "Fig. 74- 5 ") to the
right as required by turning the setscrew with
an Allen key No. 4 ( → "Fig. 74- 2 ") .
• Place the foil (

movable jaw ( → "Fig. 74- 5 ") and the fixed jaw
( → "Fig. 74- 4 ") .
• To clamp the foil, screw the movable jaw

74- 4 ") by using the Allen key.
• Insert the foil clamp ( → "Fig. 74- 6 ") in the
standard specimen clamp as shown.
• Turn the knurled screw ( → "Fig. 74- 1 ")
clockwise to clamp the foil clamp in the
standard specimen clamp.
