Press CHANGE to set the ring count.
Use the DIAL PAD KEYS to set the value between “1” and “255”. A setting of 1 allows Auto-Answer with
no rings. All other settings are on the number of rings selected.

Returns display to RINGS BEFORE AUTO ANSWER: menu ( Figure 5-16 )
Press SCROLL if no change is required or after change has been made.
NOTE
When Remote Control is enabled, the number of rings is reset to zero (0),
disabling Auto_Answer. See Paragraph 8-3.3
5-1.7 Data Port
The RED SERIAL DATA PORT 1 may be set for EIA-232 (default) or EIA-530A interoperability by all
authorized users. Refer to the menu hierarchy shown in the foldouts and the default setting shown in
Table 5-1 . The DATA PORT menu ( Figure 5-18 ) is accessed in one of two ways:
1. If the STE in either the Auto-Answer ( Figure 5-15 ) or Rings Before Auto-Answer ( Figure 5-16 )
menus by pressing SCROLL.
2. If the STE is in an idle state, by pressing MENU , SELECT and then SCROLL as necessary (7 or
8 times).
