When
SDNS
is pressed in the PERFORM REKEY menu (
), the type mode must be selected
in the SDNS REKEY MODE/SELECT TYPE menu (

When the mode has been selected (
STE
or
SCIP
), the STE prepares to place a call to the SDNS KPF as
shown in
Figure 6-26
. The KPF number presented in the display is from memory as programmed in
Paragraph
. This number can be accepted and dialed or another number can be entered using the
DIAL PAD KEYS
. Manually entering the number does not change the value stored in memory.
Whichever number is used the call to the KPF is connected by pressing
GO
.

Where XXXXXXXXXXX is the KPF telephone number and YYYYY shows the mode selected in
as either
STE or SCIP.

At completion of dialing, if connection failed, advances display to NETWORK
REJECTED CALL PLEASE HANG UP.
In either STE or SCIP mode with the STE set for ISDN operation the PROCEEDING
TO: menu (
) will flash briefly when
GO
is pressed.

When
GO
is pressed, the call is placed as non-secure. Once the call is connected, and upon successful
negotiation of the call, the STE will perform the signaling to accomplish the Rekey. A typically successful
SDNS Rekey takes about 10 seconds for each key set, although it can take less or more time depending
on the load experienced by the network switch and the KPF. The call sequence is show in
