3-1.3.2.4 Call Appearance Keys and Indicators
The four call appearance keys (
CALL1
–
CALL4
) may be used to place or receive calls. The call
appearance indicators provide the status of each call. On incoming calls, the associated
CALL
indicator
flashes (0.5 seconds on, 0.5 seconds off). When a call has been placed on hold, the indicator blinks (0.2
seconds on, 0.8 seconds off). When connected to a call, the indicator is lit. Moreover, when no calls are
connected to a particular call appearance, the indicator is off. Call appearance keys are set at the ISDN
switch during installation.
3-1.3.2.5 Volume Keys
Use the
VOLUME
keys, up (
t
) and down (
u
) to adjust the ringer, handset and speakerphone volume.
You can adjust the ringer volume while the STE is ringing, and adjust the audio volume for the handset
and speakerphone while they are in use.
3-1.3.3 Call Control Keys
Use the call control keys
HOLD
,
XFER
(Transfer),
DROP
,
MUTE
,
REDIAL
,
CONF
(Conference), and
SPKR
(Speakerphone), when momentarily pressed, to initiate, control and terminate calls.
3-1.3.3.1 HOLD Key
ISDN use only.
If your switch supports the HOLD function, you can place STE calls on hold as with a normal telephone.
Once a call is placed on hold, you can place or answer other calls. When you press the
HOLD
button,
the active call is placed on hold, again, as with a normal telephone. However, the
CALL
LED indicator
will flash (0.2 seconds on, 0.8 seconds off) for the call placed on hold. To return to the call on hold, press
the
CALL
button with the flashing indicator.
HOLD
is also used while other tasks are being performed,
such as establishing conference calls or transfers.
If your switch does not support the HOLD function, pressing
HOLD
places the STE in a “Terminal Hold”
mode and you cannot take or make other calls. You can only return to the call on hold.
3-1.3.3.2 XFER Key and Indicator
ISDN use only.
This feature functions in Non-secure voice only. When
XFER
is pressed, it allows you to transfer the
current call to another party. When activated the LED indicator is lit.
3-1.3.3.3 DROP Key
ISDN use only.
When in the conference call mode, press
DROP
to disconnect the last party connected to the conference
call without going on-hook (hanging up the handset).
3-1.3.3.4 MUTE Key and Indicator
When pressed,
MUTE
disables the handset and speakerphone’s microphone to prevent the distant party
from overhearing a local conversation. When the mute function is activated, the LED indicator is lit.
3-1.3.3.5 REDIAL Key
Press
REDIAL
to automatically redial the last number dialed from the
DIAL PAD KEYS.
3-1.3.3.6 CONF Key and Indicator
ISDN use only.
When pressed,
CONF
allows multiple parties to be linked for shared communications.
