When you hear a voice prompt or a secondary dial tone, dial the Called Party's extension and
press the
SEND
key.
The Secure Dial function supports the use of the following 16 characters:
0
-
9
,
*
, and
#
which are
represented as one digit each in the display, and the four precedence dialed characters, FO (Flash
Override), F (Flash), I (Immediate), and P (Priority) which are represented as two digits each in the
display.
The STE will accept up to 32 digits, in the send queue, before
SEND
must be pressed for their
transmission. Memory dialing from the
SPEED KEYS
is accommodated; redial is not. You are allowed
10 seconds between keypad presses before the digit entry process, times-out. If the time elapses, you
must restart the digit entry sequence. If the far end terminal does not accept secure dial digits, your
entries will result in a bad beep. Pressing
ABORT
cancels all digits in the send queue. A mistakenly
entered digit may be deleted by pressing
DELETE
. After pressing
SEND
or
ABORT
, or after a 10-second
timeout, the STE returns to the parent secure traffic application display.
A receiving STE operating under local control will display up to 64 digits (32 at a time) for 10 seconds.
NEXT/PREVIOUS
Soft Keys provide you with the ability to extend the 32-digit display-to-display 64-digits.
Pressing
NEXT
or
PREVIOUS
resets the 10 seconds timer. Pressing
BACK
returns the STE to the
parent secure traffic application display.
NOTE
(For TRI-TAC Operation)
To emulate DNVT keys, the STE converts your ‘
*
’ and ‘
#
’ keys on your keypad to
‘R’ and to ‘C’ respectively. During secure dial, your STE HMI will display ‘R’ or ‘C’,
but will convert these keys to ‘*’ or ‘#’ when secure digits are sent. Secure digits
cannot be dialed from any speed dial location. The keypad must be used for all
secure dialing.
