Internal Current Measurement Input
There is a Measurement Limit of 2 AAC rms between the "I2A " current input terminal
and the COM terminal. There is a Measurement Limit of 50 AAC rms between the "I50A "
current input terminal and the COM terminal.
The voltage from I2A or I50A or COM to chassis may not exceed 1000 VAC rms or VDC.
Before energizing any measurement circuits, ensure proper connections are made to the
external mating connector. Wires should be stripped to 12 mm according to the strip
guide on the measurement module label. Ensure the wires are secured into the mating
connector before connecting it to the Internal Current Measurement input terminals.
Before energizing any measurements, ensure the mating connector is secured to the
Internal Current Measurement Input Terminals by fully tightening both securing screws.
Always use wiring that is suitably rated and insulated for the maximum current and com-
mon mode voltage that could be applied to any compatible terminal. Be sure to con-
sider both the maximum current and common mode voltages that may appear in your
measurement circuit when choosing appropriately rated and insulated wires.
Always allow adequate time for circuits being measured to fully de-energize after remov-
ing power to these circuits. Do not rely on the reported readings from the instrument to
determine whether a circuit is de-energized.
The PA2200 Series Power Analyzer has no internal fusing in the internal current meas-
urement circuits. Always provide external adequate fusing for your application to pre-
vent the risk of electric shock or instrument damage. The fuse current rating should not
exceed 50 A for the I50A terminal or 2 A for the I2A terminal. The fuse voltage rating
must equal or exceed the voltages in the circuit that is to be connected to the terminal.
For circuits that are connected directly to mains circuits, the breaking capacity (or inter-
rupting capacity) of the fuse must be properly coordinated with the fault current capa-
city of the mains circuit. Consult your site electrician for breaking capacity ratings.
The I2A input has a parallel protection relay that will close if excess current is applied to
this input. A prompt will appear on the display to allow the user to indicate that the over-
load condition has been cleared. This relay is not intended as a safety feature, and is
only designed to prevent instrument damage during limited overload conditions.
Always provide adequate external fusing for your application when using the I2A or
I50A inputs.
The instrument does not automatically detect whether a signal is applied to the I2A or
I50A inputs when using the Internal Current Measurement inputs. The proper input
must be selected via the front-panel interface. Never apply signals to I2A and I50A sim-
ultaneously, as this may cause incorrect measurements.
