In either Auto Trigger or Wait for Trigger mode, a trigger may be missed if the event occurs while
the pretrigger buffer is being filled. This may be more likely, for example, when the horizontal
scale knob is set to a slow time/div setting, such as 500 ms/div.
Trigger Indicator
The instrument always shows a trigger indicator at the top right corner of the display.
There are five possible values for this indicator:
In Auto
Trigger
Mode
Auto? The instrument is in Auto Trigger mode, the trigger condition is not found (after
the pretrigger buffer has filled), and forced triggers and acquisitions are
occurring.
Auto
The instrument is in Auto Trigger mode, the trigger condition is found (or the
pretrigger buffer is being filled).
In Wait for
Trigger
Mode
Trig'd? The trigger condition is not found (after the pretrigger buffer has filled), and no
acquisitions are occurring.
Trig'd
The trigger condition is found (or pretrigger buffer is being filled).
In Either
Mode
Stop
The instrument is not running.
External Trigger Input
You can use the external trigger as a trigger source. This rear-panel input is labeled EXT TRIG IN.
You can set the external trigger input's slope, but not its trigger level.
Maximum voltage at instrument external trigger input
The external trigger input operates with edges that rise and fall between 0 and 3.3 V.
The trigger can actually operate properly from 0 to 5 V, but it will sink current for
voltages above 4.0 V or below -0.7 V.
