Measuring Circuits with Voltage or Current Transformers
If a current transformer is used with the Internal Current Measurement Inputs, the trans-
former must contain internal protection. When using a transformer with the voltage
inputs or external transducer inputs, be sure to provide adequate external protection for
the application. Always ensure that the resulting signals applied to the instrument will
not exceed the specified input limits when using a transformer. Using a transformer
without protection may result in a hazardous voltage resulting in a severe shock or
death, or may cause damage to the instrument.
Applying Hazardous Voltages to the Instrument Measurement Terminals
Connecting hazardous live voltage to any terminal may expose the user to hazardous
live voltages on other terminals. Do not modify the connections to the instrument input
terminals while any of the connected circuits are energized, regardless of any readings
reported by the instrument. The user should verify all measurement circuits are correctly
wired to the instrument before energizing the measurement circuits.
De-energizing Measurement Circuits with Hazardous Voltages
Always allow adequate time for circuits to fully de-energize after removing power from
these circuits. Do not rely on the reported readings from the instrument to determine
whether a circuit is de-energized.
Readings Reported by the Browser Web Control Page
Should network communication issues occur, the reported readings and instrument
configuration settings shown in the Browser Web Control page may not represent the
actual readings or instrument state. Do not rely on the reported readings from the Web
Control Browser to determine if a circuit that may have hazardous voltages present is
safely de-energized.
Leads and Connectors
For voltage measurements, assure that all leads and connectors are suitably insulated
and rated for the highest voltage that is applied to any voltage measurement terminal
on any channel. For current measurements, assure that all leads and connectors are suit-
ably insulated and rated for the highest current and voltage that is applied to any cur-
rent measuring terminal on any channel.
