Air Bearing Ballast and Air Filter Assembly
The IX-6168-PS system has a motion stage with an air bearing, therefore the
pneumatic system includes a ballast tank to minimize pressure fluctuations in the air
supplied to the stage. The ballast tank is accessible through the rear door of the
enclosure.
There is also a replaceable Koby air filter used to further purify the air going into the
ballast tank which protects the stage from damage. Check the filter’s label for its
replacement date.

The
ballast tank
holds the air.
❑
The
pressure switch
trips if the air pressure in the assembly is too low, deactivating
the motion stages and preventing damage to them.
❑
The
regulator
maintains constant air pressure to the bearings. It is factory-set to
provide the correct pressure and should not be adjusted.
❑
The
Koby
®
filter
filters the air coming into the ballast tank, and the
microfilter
adds
even finer filtration.
