Appendix A. Testing and Troubleshooting
This appendix provides information to help you solve problems with
your EtherJet ISA Adapter or its installation.
The LEDs
Two LEDs are visible on the adapter.
When the green LED is on (lit) the integrity of the attached
twisted-pair segment is good. This applies
only
to 10BASE-T media.
The green LED has no significance for 10BASE2 or AUI.
When the amber LED is on there is traffic on the network.
Testing the Adapter
EtherJet ISA Adapter Diagnostics
Diagnostics for the EtherJet ISA Adapter and the EtherJet 10BASE-T
ISA Adapter are contained in LANAID.
1. Begin on a DOS full screen or a DOS full screen session of
Windows or OS/2. Go to the directory where LANAID is
installed, and then enter LANAID.
2. When the main options panel is presented, select the
DIAGNOSTICS push button.
3. The diagnostic procedure is performed automatically.
A Diagnostics window with the results of the diagnostics is
displayed. This window displays the adapter type, MAC address,
Serial Number, results (Pass/Fail/Disabled) of the individual
adapter tests, and a final message: Diagnostics Passed or
Diagnostics Failed.
