Manually Installing NDIS Drivers
1
Copy the DOS or OS/2 NDIS MAC driver files from the Device
Drivers diskette to the directory on the workstation that contains
the files for the workstation’s network operating system or
network application. Those files include an NDIS-compliant
protocol driver. Examples of protocol drivers are the IBM LAN
Transports IEEE 802.2 NDIS protocol driver (LANDD.OS2),
and the IBM TCP/IP Version 2.1 for DOS driver
(DOSTCP.SYS).
For DOS, copy the files from the DOS directory on the
Device Drivers diskette.
IBMEINDI.DOS - NDIS DOS driver
IBMEINDI.NIF - DOS network installation file
For OS/2, copy the following files from the root directory on
the Device Drivers diskette:
IBMEINDI.OS2 - NDIS OS/2 driver
IBMEINDI.NIF - OS/2 network installation file
2
Edit the CONFIG.SYS file in the root directory. Add a device
statement to load the NDIS MAC driver or, if you are using
multiple EtherJet ISA Adapters, (see “Supporting Multiple
Adapters with NDIS Drivers” on page 6-34). Place that
statement after the Device statement for the Protocol Manager
(PROTMAN.DOS or PROTMAN.OS2).
For DOS,
DEVICE=C:\ ..path.. \IBMEINDI.DOS
For OS/2,
DEVICE=C:\ ..path.. \IBMEINDI.OS2
Verify that the DOS CONFIG.SYS file does not contain the
following statement:
Adapter diskette:
DOS Workstations
Device Drivers diskette
Directory: DOS
OS/2 Workstations
Device Drivers diskette
Directory: root
