Finding the Adapter Serial Number
It is necessary to know your adapter serial number when you are
installing multiple adapter configurations. Use LANAID or LANAIDC
to find the 8-digit hexadecimal serial number of your adapter.
LANAID and LANAIDC can be run in any of three environments:
DOS
DOS Full Screen session of Windows
DOS Full Screen session of OS/2
You can insert the LANAID diskette in drive A or you can go to the
directory where LANAID and LANAIDC are stored. Then enter one
of the following commands:
Enter LANAID. LANAID displays the serial numbers of all
installed EtherJet ISA Adapters, along with their MAC addresses,
on the opening panel.
Enter LANAIDC /V. LANAIDC displays the serial number and
other information about the adapter.
Note: For Windows NT systems, you must boot the LANAID
diskette and then enter /V.
Determining Plug and Play Status
You can determine if your computer is enabled for Plug and Play in
either of two ways:
Note: Option 2 is the required method for Windows 95 and
Windows NT systems.
1.
Go to DOS or a full screen DOS session of Windows or
OS/2.
Insert DISK2: LANAID in your A drive.
Enter A:LANAIDC /V
2.
Boot the LANAID diskette.
