Chapter 7. IBM LAN Client MPS
This chapter describes IBM LAN Client MPS and tells you how to
install it using LANAID 2.0.
About IBM LAN Client MPS
IBM LAN Client MPS prevents excessive consumption of DOS
conventional memory in DOS-based computers by drivers and
protocol stacks. Now, IBM’s LAN adapter drivers and protocol stacks
no longer require large amounts of DOS memory below 1 MB.
In addition, IBM LAN Client MPS provides support using one
adapter-specific LAN device driver instead of two different kinds of
drivers for your clients and servers. You select the appropriate
device drivers and protocol stacks for your computer. The correct
modules are automatically loaded, based on the options you select.
IBM LAN Client MPS provides support for the following protocols:
For DOS 5.0 or higher:
NetWare Client-32 (IPX/SPX)
IEEE 802.2
DOS LAN Services
For Windows 3.1:
NetWare Client-32 (IPX/SPX)
IEEE 802.2
TCP/IP
DOS LAN Services
For Windows for Workgroups 3.11:
NetWare Client-32 (IPX/SPX)
IEEE 802.2
TCP/IP
DOS LAN Services
