OS/2 NDIS2 MAC Driver Installation Using LAPS or
MPTS
The OS/2 NDIS MAC device driver is needed to run in an OS/2 LAN
Server environment. The Device Drivers diskette contains the OS/2
NDIS MAC device driver under the name
IBMEINDI.OS2
in the root
directory.
IBMEINDI.OS2
will support up to three EtherJet ISA Adapters in the
same system unit. If you want to use multiple EtherJet ISA Adapters
in the same workstation, see “Supporting Multiple Adapters with
NDIS Drivers” on page 6-34 for more details.
You can use the OS/2 device driver installation tool, the LAN Adapter
and Protocol Support program (LAPS.EXE), or you can use MPTS to
install the OS/2 NDIS MAC device driver. Refer to
IBM Operating
System/2 Local Area Network Server Network Administrator’s
Reference, Volume 1: Planning and Installation
form number
SH10-9680, for instructions on using IBM LAN Transports.
The following information assumes OS/2 2.11 or Warp and LAPS or
MPTS have already been installed on your system. If LAPS or
MPTS has not yet been installed, install it now. If you do not have
LAPS or MPTS, go to “Manually Installing NDIS Drivers” on
page 6-32 to manually install your adapter drivers.
1
Select the LAPS or the MPTS program icon from the OS/2
desktop. You can also initiate LAPS.EXE or MPTS.EXE from
the \IBMCOM directory on your OS/2 workstation. Select OK
on the logo panel that is presented.
2
Select Install on the LAPS or MPTS window.
3
The next window will prompt you to enter the source of the
network information files (.NIF). Verify that the drive and path
are correct. If the files are in drive A, verify that the Device
Drivers diskette is in drive A and select OK.
