Chapter 7: Adding and removing adapter cards and drives
If you need information about the Mwave card installed
in your computer, refer to your computer’s online help
for Mwave. To access the Mwave online help, follow
these steps:
1.
From your Windows 95 desktop, click on the
Start
button.
2.
Move your mouse pointer to the
Programs
menu
and then to the
Mwave
menu.
3.
Click on the
Mwave Help
option.
Resolving resource conflicts
Using the Device Manager and the documentation that
came with your new hardware, compare the resources
used by the installed Mwave card and the new
hardware. If both devices attempt to use the same
resource, refer to the new hardware’s documentation to
change the resource used by the new hardware.
If the resource for the new hardware cannot be changed,
change the resource for the Mwave card in the Device
Manager. See “Starting and using the Windows 95
Device Manager” on page 75 for information about the
Device Manager.
If you change the I/O address for the Mwave card in the
Device Manager, you must move the I/O address jumper
on the Mwave card so the card will use the new address.
Once you have removed the system unit cover, see
“Setting jumpers on the Mwave card” on page 82 for
instructions on changing the I/O address jumper setting
on the Mwave card. (These same instructions are also in
“Setting jumpers on the Mwave card” on page 104.)
Resolving joystick port
conflicts
Using the Device Manager and the documentation that
came with your new hardware, determine whether the
joystick ports on both the installed Mwave card and the
new hardware are enabled. See “Starting and using the
Windows 95 Device Manager” on page 75 for
information about the Device Manager.
If the joystick ports on both devices are enabled, refer to
the new hardware’s documentation to disable the
joystick port on the new hardware.
If the joystick port on the new hardware cannot be
disabled, follow the instructions in “Setting jumpers on
the Mwave card” on page 82 to disable the joystick port
on the Mwave card. (These same instructions are also in
“Setting jumpers on the Mwave card” on page 104.)
