Chapter 3: Understanding the Rapid Resume features
Starting the Rapid Resume Manager
To start the Rapid Resume Manager, follow these steps:
1.
Double-click on the
AptivaWare
icon on your
desktop.
2.
When the AptivaWare window appears, double-
click on the
Rapid Resume Manager
icon.
The Rapid Resume Manager window contains these four
icons:
•
Rapid Resume
•
Standby
•
Scheduler
•
Wake Up on Ring
Click on any of these icons to view or change Rapid
Resume features. Note that some of the Rapid Resume
features work only when you have enabled other Rapid
Resume features.
This book describes the Rapid Resume features and tells
you how to find each of these features in the Rapid
Resume Manager. For help with configuring Rapid
Resume features, see the online instructions and help
screens in each window.
To view an online tutorial about the Rapid Resume
features, follow these steps:
1.
In the Rapid Resume Manager window, double-
click on the
Rapid Resume
icon.
2.
When the Rapid Resume window opens, click on
the
Tutorial
button to learn about the Rapid
Resume features.
Rapid Resume features
In the Rapid Resume window, you can work with
settings for these features:

Rapid Resume
•
Automatic Power Off
Rapid Resume
The Rapid Resume feature works like a bookmark for
your desktop. It saves the state of your computer when
you turn it off and returns to that state the next time you
turn your computer on. Your software programs and any
open data files appear just as you left them. This feature
reduces the amount of time required for your computer
to start up.
As part of a normal routine, each time you use your
computer, your computer stores information about the
programs you have running and any data you are
