If you are installing a drive on Local Bus connector 1,
follow these guidelines:
•
Attach the signal cable from the drive to Local Bus
connector 1, which is labeled
J9
on the system
board.
•
Set the newly installed drive as a master device if
one of these conditions exists:
–
The new drive is the only drive attached to the
connector.
–
Another drive that is not a hard disk drive (such
as a CD-ROM) is already attached to the
connector. Set the drive that is already attached
to the connector as the slave device. Jumpers
for setting CD-ROM drives as master or slave
devices are typically located at the back of the
drive.
•
Set the newly installed hard disk as a slave device if
another hard disk is already attached to the
connector.
