1. In Rapid Resume Manager, check the Scheduler feature and the Automatic
Power Off option of the Rapid Resume feature to see if either of them is set
to turn off the computer.

You set the computer to start when the phone
rings in order to receive a fax, but it receives a
regular phone call instead.
If you have an Mwave card:
Make sure that the Aptiva Communication Center is running.
If your sound card and modem are separate:
Either disable the Wake Up on Ring feature in the Rapid Resume menu of the
Setup Utility, or disable the Auto Answer feature in your fax software. Use
Wake Up on Ring only when you know you will have incoming fax
communications. For instructions on using the Setup Utility, see “Using the
Setup Utility” on page 29.
You can also prevent this from occurring by installing a telephone line sharing
device, which will direct calls where you specify (to either an answering
machine or a fax modem).
You click on the

option in the Start
menu and your computer does not turn off.
Rapid Resume must be enabled for the Suspend option in the Start menu to

enabled.
Your computer turns on automatically when

Either disable the Wake Up on Ring feature in the Rapid Resume menu of the
Setup Utility, or disable the Auto Answer feature in your fax software. Use
Wake Up on Ring only when you know you will have incoming fax
communications. For instructions on working with the Rapid Resume features
in the Setup Utility, see “Changing Rapid Resume features configuration” on
