Evaluating your new hardware
If you install new hardware in your system unit, the new
device might attempt to use a system resource that is
already assigned to hardware that was installed at the
factory. This book contains information to help you
resolve some of these potential resource conflicts.
For conflicts with system
resources used by an Mwave
card
If you purchased a computer with an Mwave card, an
adapter card that functions as both a sound card and a
modem card, evaluate your new hardware to determine
if it will interfere with the operation of your Mwave card.
The current resource assignments for your Mwave card
might also interfere with the operation of your new
hardware.
To find out if your computer contains an Mwave card,
you can use the Windows 95 Device Manager. If your
computer contains an Mwave card, Mwave options
appear in the Device Manager. For information about the
Device Manager, see “Starting and using the
Windows 95 Device Manager” on page 75.
The instructions in this book can help you resolve
conflicts with Mwave resources and the joystick port. To
determine what system resources your new hardware
uses, refer to the documentation that came with the new
hardware. To identify the system resources used by your
Mwave card, use the Windows 95 Device Manager.
